Description

Climate change is accelerating at an alarming rate, disproportionately impacting low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). As these nations grapple with the intertwined challenges of development and climate resilience, the need for innovative partnerships has never been more pressing. This fireside chat brings together Ajay Banga, President of the World Bank Group, and Dr. Rajiv J. Shah, President of The Rockefeller Foundation to discuss how strategic collaborations can advance the energy transition in LMICs - featuring an exciting on-stage update about the World Bank and African Development Bank's initiative with many partners to connect 300 Africans to electricity. How can we foster innovative partnerships that ensure everyone has the fundamental right to electricity? How can aligning climate action with economic development unlock new opportunities for these countries?  Key topics will include the importance of integrating local communities into the energy transition, the potential of public-private-philanthropic partnerships to drive change, and lessons learned from successful international initiatives.

The Rockefeller Foundation is a 2024 Concordia Annual Summit Core Programming Partner.
