Dr. Juma Mfinanga is an Emergency Medicine Specialist and the head of the Emergency Medicine Department at Muhimbili National Hospital (MNH) in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
He joined MNH in 2010 and was among the pioneers of the Emergency Medicine Department. He was one of the first graduates of the Emergency Medicine Residency at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), where he now serves as an adjunct faculty member. He is also an adjunct Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Atrium Health in North Carolina, USA. He is a founding member and serves as the current President of the Emergency Medicine Association of Tanzania (EMAT), the national professional association charged with disseminating emergency care in Tanzania. Dr. Mfinanga works closely with the Ministry of Health in Tanzania to promote, develop and establish emergency care models across all levels of health care systems in the country. He has a significant research interest in emergency care systems development, EMS, disease outbreak, disaster and trauma. He has several publications in international and local journals.
