Speaker Bio
Appointed by President Joe Biden in June 2022, Special Representative for Global Partnerships McAuliffe leads the Office of Global Partnerships to advance the Administration’s strategy of revitalizing alliances and partnerships to address global challenges by engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, including a broad range of civil society and private sector actors. Special Representative McAuliffe and her team are the central point for private sector engagement in the Department of State, and work to identify areas of opportunity for collaboration between the Department of State and the private sector.
As Special Representative for Global Partnerships, McAuliffe has led five overseas Partnership Opportunity Delegations to foster Public-Private collaboration in key sectors including climate technology, digital transformation and inclusion, and cyber security. Under her leadership, the Office of Global Partnerships launched eight Coalition for Climate Entrepreneurship (CCE) hubs around the world, thus CCE Hubs provide accelerator programs, training, mentorship, and access to capital that draws from local expertise and builds out local ecosystems. Since 2022, the Department’s Women in Science (WiSci) partnership resumed in-person STEAM Camps that bring together 100 teen girls from several countries to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Design, Mathematics) interests and build leadership skills. The Office of Global Partnerships facilitates thousands of public-private partnerships across the Department of State in key policy areas such as emerging technology and innovation, entrepreneurship and economic development, climate change and adaptation, energy security, gender equity, and countering malign influence across the global.
Prior to her appointment at State, McAuliffe most recently served as the national policy advisor for Share Our Strength and the No Kid Hungry Campaign where she met with federal, state, and local government leaders, as well as members of the business and philanthropic sectors to create partnerships and advocate for policies to end child hunger and advance equity in public education. As First Lady of Virginia, McAuliffe founded and chaired Virginia’s Council on Bridging the Nutritional Divide, a groundbreaking initiative which forged cross-sector, public-private collaboration to improve childhood nutrition and build food access initiatives.
McAuliffe earned a B.A. from Catholic University of America and J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center.
