Ishaan Tharoor is a columnist on the foreign desk of The Washington Post, where he authors the Today's WorldView newsletter and column. In 2021, he won the Arthur Ross Media Award in Commentary, a prize administered by the American Academy of Diplomacy. He previously was a senior editor and correspondent at Time magazine, based first in Hong Kong and later in New York. In 2024, he was the recipient of the Ted Sorensen award, an honor bestowed by Network 20/20, a New York-based group that seeks to bridge the gap between the private sector and foreign policy worlds. Prior to joining the Washington Post in 2014, he was a correspondent and editor at Time magazine for eight years, based first in Hong Kong and then back in New York City, his hometown. Ishaan taught an undergraduate seminar at Georgetown University on digital affairs and the global age and is a graduate of Yale College.
