Ignacio Munoz-Sanjuan is a neuroscientist working to develop therapies for Huntington's disease and other neurodegenerative conditions. He is a native of Spain and relocated to the United States in 1989 to study molecular biology and genetics, earning a PhD from the Johns Hopkins University medical school and a postdoctoral fellowship at The Rockefeller University. He has worked at Merck, Amgen, the CHDI Foundation and Cajal Neuroscience, leading multiple drug discovery programs. In 2012, Ignacio started Factor-H, an organization focused on improving the health and quality of life for Huntington's disease (HD) families in Latin America living in conditions of extreme vulnerability. He conducts humanitarian work as the President of Factor-H, where he oversees multiple programs in Colombia, Venezuela and Peru, to benefit patients, caregivers and children at-risk to develop HD, through partnerships with affiliated NGOs and the communities most affected by this devastating disease. He lives in Los Angeles with his life partner.
