Speaker Bio
Winston Yan is the Founding President of the N=1 Collaborative (N1C). As a physician-scientist, organization builder, and drug developer, he is committed to bringing the promise of genetic medicines to help the broadest range of patients — particularly those with ultra-rare, “N-of-few” genetic diseases underserved by traditional biopharma drug development. The N1C is a nonprofit that serves as an independent hub to share best practices, preclinical/clinical data, and collective learnings, all to accelerate the development of custom, individualized treatments for rare diseases. Winston is also a co-founder of Arbor Biotechnologies, where he helped build a leading portfolio of next-generation CRISPR gene editing technologies and is now leading clinical development of Arbor’s first therapeutic program. Prior to N1C and Arbor, Winston completed his undergraduate degree in Physics magna cum laude at Harvard College, M.D. from Harvard Medical School (Health Sciences & Technology track), and Ph.D. from Harvard University, working with Feng Zhang at the Broad Institute on early CRISPR genome editing technology development.
