Mrs. Fatima Farouk Elsheikh is appointed as the Secretary General Secretary General of the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA). Mrs. Elsheikh has more than twenty-three years in international humanitarian and development. Prior to joining BADEA Mrs. Elsheikh served as UNDP Resident Representative in Djibouti; she was awarded the National Medal of honour by the President of the Republic of Djibouti for her leading role in promoting inclusion and sustainable development in the country. Previously, she has served also as UNDP Chief Technical Advisor on sustainable development for the Prime Minister -Timor-Leste, the Head of Poverty Unit - UNDP Sudan.
Mrs Elsheikh is a global award winner in recognition of her contribution to Youth Employment and sustainability. She holds a medical degree from Ahfad University for Women in Sudan and a master’s degree in Genetic Epidemiology from Erasmus University, Netherland, and a diploma on development policy advisory services-UNDP & Columbia University program.
