Dr. Jenelle Krishnamoorthy is the Vice President and Head of Global Public Policy, Corporate Affairs at Merck & Co., with deep expertise in domestic and global health policy. Jenelle leads human and animal health teams globally and is responsible for the policy development and execution of strategic advocacy plans on cross-cutting public policy issues for all the medicines and vaccines that are produced by Merck. Prior to joining Merck in 2015, Jenelle was the Health Policy Staff Director in the United States Senate for the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions (HELP) Committee which has jurisdiction over the Food and Drug Administration, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Institutes of Health and other agencies within Health and Human Services. Dr. Krishnamoorthy first joined the United States Senate as an American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Congressional Fellow and worked on the Agriculture and Appropriations Committees. Prior to her role on the HELP Committee, Jenelle worked at the State Department in the Bureau of South Asian Affairs on developing and advancing the United States policy priorities in the areas of health, science, technology, and the environment with countries and organizations across the globe.
Jenelle completed her pediatric clinical psychology residency and post-doctoral fellowship at Brown Medical School where she conducted research supported by the National Institutes of Health in the areas of childhood obesity and tobacco issues. Dr. Krishnamoorthy received her B.S. from Randolph-Macon College, M.S. from the University of Tennessee, and Ph.D. from Virginia Commonwealth University. Jenelle is licensed to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
