The Honorable Anastasia A. Pittman is the founder/CEO of The Pittman Group. LLC. She has over 25 years of experience in her career serving in both local and national governmental affairs, public relations, investments, and educational programs. In 2013, prior to starting the Pittman Group, LLC, which is a Native American owned research and education consulting firm, and is also registered with the American Indian Chamber of Commerce, she served as a former classroom teacher, licensed case manager, radio talk show host, senate staffer and media Intern, State Representative, State Senator, and mentor for the United States Department of Justice.
Pittman, also served as the Vice Chair of the National Native American Caucus for State Legislators, the National Caucus of State Legislators Telecommunications, Finance, and Cyber Security committee, the National Caucus of State Legislator of Gaming States, the National Black Caucus of State Legislators as co- chair of Telecommunications, vice chair of housing and the region X chair over 6 states. She was instrumental in her advocacy for legislative funding success on behalf of the First Americans Museum located in her former House District 99, while serving as the Chair of the Oklahoma Native American Caucus and Oklahoma Legislative Black caucus simultaneously. Pittman made history as the first Native American/African American elected as the democratic nominee for Lieutenant Governor. Her passion is to help create “Pathways to Progress” for federal, military, state, tribal, community based organizations and nonprofits through evidence based research, governmental affairs, education and training. She values her ability as a strategic thought partner to leverage her expertise, commitment to community, collaborative relationship skills, with innovative, creative and face-paced thinking to promote profitable outcomes for governmental leaders, legislators, and non-governmental organizations.
The Pittman Group, LLC has a primary focus to equip, educate and empower indigenous people and other minority groups to utilize tools of research, advocacy, education and investments to manage community projects, programs, and products while limiting the risks of valuable assets. Senator Anastasia A. Pittman has resided in Oklahoma for over 50 years, and is a 6th generation Oklahoman with dual citizenship from the Seminole Nation. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma, a M.Ed., in Urban Education and Behavioral Science from Langston University, and a Masters of Legal Studies in Indigenous People’s Law from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
In 2020, Pittman was elected to serve on the Seminole Nation General Council, and is a member of the finance committee. She is also a member of the Oklahoma Indian Bar Association, Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women’s group, an International Peace Ambassador, featured speaker for Educational Sovereignty, and member of civic, and national organizations. Pittman continues to make history as the Founder/director of APRI for Indigenous People of Color to collect, preserve and share languages, culture, and history. She also serves as the first female board member of Cash Community Development.org a 100% Native owned non-profit for economic development in Indian Country.
