Government responsiveness, strong judicial institutions, transnational criminal accountability, and regional security maintenance are essential elements in the continued well-functioning of any modern and prosperous democracy. Yet throughout the Western hemisphere, several countries (to varying degrees) are falling behind in effectively implementing such principles in practice, resulting in serious and multifaceted security concerns, on a domestic and wider hemispheric level. As such, in this timely fireside conversation, SOUTHCOM's Vice Admiral Holsey and Guatemala’s Congresswoman Villagrán will share their strategic expertise and offer insights on current frameworks for security cooperation, emphasizing the importance of regional coordination in promoting international law across the hemisphere.
