The role played by information communication technologies and by the data networks they underpin has significantly increased as societies continue to globalize and interconnect. While technological developments have resulted in great socio-economic advancements, the cyber landscape is also fraught in illicit activities and malicious actors. Across Europe, where the cyber threat level has already been heightened significantly following Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine, strong cooperation and a cohesive defensive framework is necessary across all industries. The public, private, and multilateral sectors must effectively mobilize on a policy wide level to strengthen cybersecurity capacity, ranging from protecting entire grids of infrastructure, all the way down to individual private data.
