Fernando Ruiz Pérez has more than 23 years of experience at national and international level in the areas of cybersecurity and cybercrime, leading operational, technical, and strategic units. He is currently the Global Head of Respond in the Cyber Security Center of Banco Santander. In this role, he coordinates the global response to cyber incidents and threats against the bank, including the coordination of the Global CERT, the Cyber Threat Intelligence function, as well as the Cyber Readiness and the External Relationships teams. Fernando is founding member of the Europol´s European Cybercrime Centre (EC3) in which he has served as Head of Operations for 9 years. In this role, he contributed to the design and implementation of international strategies and operational activities to fight against cyber threats, like the Joint Cybercrime Action Taskforce (J-CAT), the EU Law Enforcement Emergency Response Protocol, the No More Ransom Project or the EU-US Ransomware Working Group. He represented on a regular basis the law enforcement community in policy and strategic matters in the areas of cybersecurity and cyber-criminality in discussions with the European Commission, European Parliament, European Council, national parliaments, and international organizations.
