Description

For more than 20 years, the government of Tanzania has collaborated with the global healthcare company Abbott and its foundation Abbott Fund to strengthen the country's health system, creating sustainable solutions to improve treatment and care across the country. In 2010, the partnership launched the first emergency department and emergency medicine residency program in East Africa. 2023 marked the 10th anniversary of the first graduating class of that residency program, training more than 6,000 providers and providing care for 1.3 million to date. This session will discuss key impacts and lessons learned from this unique public-private partnership. Panelists will include graduates of the emergency medicine residency program who now serve as leaders within health systems, joining other global leaders to discuss the impact of the emergency medicine work in saving lives and strengthening broader healthcare systems in low-resource settings.

Abbott is a 2024 Concordia Annual Summit Principal Programming Sponsor.
