Dr. Uché Blackstock is the Founder and CEO of Advancing Health Equity. She is a former MSNBC and NBC News medical contributor appearing regularly on air, as well as a former associate professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine and the former faculty director for recruitment, retention, and inclusion in the Office of Diversity Affairs at NYU School of Medicine.
Advancing Health Equity was founded with the goal of partnering with healthcare organizations and startups to address the critical factors contributing to racial health inequities, through assessments, equity audits, strategic planning, keynotes, training and consulting services.
Since then, Advancing Health Equity’s work has been featured by Meet the Press, PBS NewsHour, Slate and Forbes, and our clients have included Ro, Healthwise, NYSDOH, Johnson & Johnson, Sanofi, and Salesforce.
Dr. Blackstock received both her undergraduate and medical degrees from Harvard University. Her mother Dr. Dale Blackstock, as well as her twin sister Dr. Oni Blackstock, also attended Harvard, making them the first Black mother-daughter legacy to graduate from Harvard Medical School.
Her debut book, the New York Times best-selling LEGACY: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism in Medicine, is currently available and was published by Penguin Random House on January 23, 2024 become an instant New York Times best-seller.
