Ben Van Leeuwen never imagined that his high school summer job would inspire the business he’d soon build alongside brother Pete Van Leeuwen, and Laura O’Neill. Fast forward fifteen years, Ben is co-founder and CEO of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream.
During high school, Ben drove a Good Humor ice cream truck and with the help of his brother Pete, they established a (mini) ice cream empire in their hometown selling frozen treats. Ben used the savings from the summer to travel abroad, where he became enamored with quality foods and ingredients he discovered around the world.
Post-graduation, Ben had a chance encounter with a Mister Softee ice cream truck, which sparked an idea to create the world’s best ice cream using only the highest quality ingredients. Van Leeuwen began from these humble roots, and has since grown to a true ice cream empire.
A graduate of Skidmore College, Ben resides in New York City. With a buzzing mind that never stops creating, he relaxes with daily yoga meditation and makes an effort to spend as much time in nature as possible. Ben has recently been featured on The Today Show, CNN, CNBC Last Call and Make It and MSNBC.
