Mr. Gastón Schulmeister serves as the Director of the Department against Transnational Organized Crime (DTOC) at the Organization of American States (OAS). He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires and a Master's degree in International Studies from the University Torcuato Di Tella.

Schulmeister furthered his specialization in security through prestigious programs, including a fellowship at the William J. Perry Center in Washington, D.C., a Chevening Scholarship at the University of Bradford in the United Kingdom, and a Fulbright Scholarship at the University of Delaware in the United States.

With over 20 years of experience in defense, justice, and security sectors in Latin America, he has served as an international consultant for renowned organizations such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and the OAS. Schulmeister has also held executive positions in Argentina, including Director of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Security of the Argentine Republic.

In his current role, Schulmeister leads initiatives involving technical and financial assistance to combat organized crime in OAS Member States. These initiatives encompass anti-money laundering programs, asset forfeiture and management of illicitly obtained assets, asset recovery, Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling, and support for the effective application of special investigative techniques. The OAS Department against Transnational Organized Crime, established in 2016, aims to provide technical and legislative assistance to OAS Member States in addressing Transnational Organized Crime across the Western Hemisphere.

Schulmeister’s awards and decorations include the title of "Cavaliere dell'Ordine della Stella d'Italia," bestowed upon him by the President of the Italian Republic in May 2017, in recognition of his substantial contributions to international cooperation against organized crime.
