Dr. Terrance Michael Drew, an esteemed and dedicated leader, assumed the role of the fourth Prime Minister of the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis after the resounding victory of the St. Kitts – Nevis Labour Party in the General Elections of August 5th, 2022. His party secured a majority in Parliament, winning 6 out of the 11 seats in the National Assembly.
In addition to his pivotal role as Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Terrance Drew carries a substantial portfolio, overseeing the crucial areas of Finance, National Security, Citizenship and Immigration, Health, Human Resource Management, and Social Security. Dr. Drew's influence extends beyond the borders of his nation; he serves as the Lead Head for Human Resource Development, Health, and HIV/AIDS issues within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Quasi Cabinet. Earlier this year, he also took up the role of Chair of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
Dr. Terrance Drew's innate service-oriented nature has been evident throughout his career. Before embarking on his political journey, he diligently served his Federation as a medical doctor for an impressive 25 years. He provided healthcare as a General Practitioner at the Joseph Nathaniel France General Hospital and through private practice in Saint Kitts and Nevis. His medical education includes studies at the Instituto Superior de Ciencias Médicas in Santa Clara, Cuba (1998), and specialization in Internal Medicine at the Paul Foster School of Medicine in Texas (2010-2013). He is also a member of the American College of Medicine and the American Medical Association, holding the distinction of being a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM).
Dr. Drew is the son of Ras Gerzel Pet Mills and Michael 'Mic Stokes' Heyliger born and raised in the vibrant community of Upper Monkey Hill in the parish of St. Peters. He is affectionately known as the "Caring Dr. Drew" for his unwavering commitment to creating supportive and progressive environments.
Dr. Drew's contributions extend beyond politics and medicine. He is a dedicated community activist and philanthropist, lending his dependable leadership to various initiatives, with a particular focus on empowering youth and marginalized groups, including the disabled and elderly. He is a staunch advocate for the recognition and advancement of young people, tirelessly working to ensure they have ample opportunities for growth and development.
In addition to his public service, the Honourable Dr. Drew is the founder of the Compassionate Action to Reach and Empower (C.A.R.E.) Foundation, which is a non-profit, non-partisan organization with a noble mission. The C.A.R.E. Foundation is committed to addressing key priorities, including poverty alleviation, disaster response, health and wellness, empowerment and education, and environmental and community enhancement.
