Avipsa is the Climate Campaign Lead at EIA US and drives the organization’s climate strategy using primary evidence to move systemic changes, influencing international and domestic policy to reduce emissions of climate pollutants for over a decade. She has led the campaign’s global exposés of illegal trade in fluorinated chemicals as well as technical and policy work. Avipsa was also a member of the India-U.S. bilateral task force on HFCs. She has previously worked for the World Resources Institute in developing a framework for emerging economies to initiate emissions reporting programs, and at Development Alternatives, Delhi leading a carbon-reduction and environmental monitoring program network of 120 civil society organizations as a Senior Scientist. She was an official member of the Indian delegation to UNFCCC COP 14 as a youth activist, and has worked with the international youth climate movement, the Earth Institute New York, WWF Norway, 350.org and PowerShift. She has dual Masters degrees from Columbia University in Climate Science and Public Policy and from the Energy and Resources Institute in in Natural Resources Management, and held a research fellowship at Yale University in sustainable urban development.
