Tom Achoki is Senior Director of Strategy and Impact at the AB InBev Foundation, where he leads a global portfolio of public health and community development investment projects focused on the reduction of the harmful use of alcohol and catalyzing social entrepreneurship around the world. He has since held roles of increasing responsibility in public health services, academic institutions, private sector organizations, and corporate foundations.

Before joining the AB InBev Foundation, Tom was in the startup world, where he led a multidisciplinary team to develop an innovative digital solution to maximize healthcare value through advanced analytics of data from health insurance claims, electronic health records, and social determinants of health. Here, he was responsible for the overall efforts to support the Global Burden of Disease Study in the Africa Region, through the identification of data assets, analysis, evidence generation, and policy engagement to ensure uptake by health system decision-makers. At the Ministry of Health in Botswana, Tom served as a Technical Advisor to the Permanent Secretary to coordinate the national-level health measurement agenda within a highly matrixed organization; eliminating fragmentation and creating unified data streams to meet the organizational business needs. As such, Tom is active in healthcare entrepreneurship, innovation, and research, specifically focusing on health systems performance assessment, impact investments, digital health, and data analytics. Tom trained as a medical doctor (M.D.), and his academic qualifications include a master of public health (MPH), infectious diseases, and tropical medicine (DTM&H) from the University of Pretoria, South Africa, a Ph.D. in health services research and pharmaceutical policy from Utrecht University, Netherlands, and an MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.
